Obituary For Theodore Todd/Theo Washington
Reflections of Life
Theodore (Todd, Theo) Washington made his entrance into this world on January 27, 1971 at the Passaic General Hospital, to the loving parents of the late Theodore and Viola Allen. He was their first child of three. Todd was called from labor to reward on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Todd grew up in Passaic, New Jersey and attended Passaic Elementary Schools and Passaic High School, where he graduated in 1990. He loved the game of basketball and played it well; pure magic! He also ran cross-country track in high school. Upon graduating from Passaic High School, he received a scholarship to play basketball at Richard Stockton College, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science, graduating in 1994. Todd pledged Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. in the fall of 1993 (1-AA-93).
While attending Stockton College, he met the love of his life, Dina Mroz, and they married in February of 1995. In March of 1996 they welcomed their first child into the world, Kenneth Todd Washington, and in July of 2000 they welcomed their second son, Ryan Theodore Washington.
Upon graduating college, Todd went on to work for Harborfields Detention Center. When he left Harborfields, he would go on to build several successful businesses as an entrepreneur with the companies Melaleuca, Legal Shield, Intel Travel/Plan Net Marketing, and Trans-America Life Insurance. Todd was also involved in real estate. When Todd would call, you already knew that he was calling with a business proposition. His famous words; “I’m gonna send you this link and I’ll call you back in a couple of days, and you tell me what you think.” He was persistent and wouldn’t take NO for an answer. He then acquired the position of maintenance manager at O.C.E.A.N. Inc. from 2022 until his passing.
Todd was an avid golfer, good on the front nine and hideous on the back nine. He had the opportunity to golf on many golf courses throughout New Jersey, and other states, and countries. He spent many Sundays on the golf course with his buddies. He was also a cigar connoisseur that found a community at Somers Point Cigar Lounge and Smokers Haven in Northfield, NJ. This is where he spent quality time, genuinely enjoying himself amongst friends that were like family. He was a real family man. He took the family on vacations to warm tropical islands and loved to spend quality time together at home watching movies with Dina. He enjoyed attending church services every Sunday morning. Todd’s warm smile and his gentle soul made anyone, who met him, love him instantly. He was good natured, considerate, a great listener, and very patient.
Theodore Todd Washington was predeceased by his beloved parents, Theodore and Viola Allen; father-in-law, Stanley Mroz; grandmothers, Doris Washington and Alice Allen; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gimmi; nephew, Shamyier Allen; uncles that he was raised with, James, S.T., Larry and Willie C.
Todd is survived by his wife, Dina Washington; his two sons, Kenneth and Ryan Washington, all of New Jersey; One brother, Antrell Allen of New Jersey; one sister, Sharonda Allen of New Jersey; His aunts and uncles who he was raised with; Alberta Agee of New Jersey, Dorothy Perry of Georgia, Sharon Robinson (Roger) of New Jersey, Sande Washington of New Jersey, Johnny West of Georgia, Allan Washington (Shelley) of New Jersey, Glenn Washington (Lovette) of New Jersey; mother-in-law, Vivien Mroz of Penn.; sister-in-law, Susan Goodwin of New Jersey; his best friend for over 42 years, Perno Young III of New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and very close friends.
