Kaplan, Theresa Lynn Comegys, passed away on January 18, 2022, after a lengthy illness. The youngest child of Robert and Peninnah Comegys, Terri was a cheerful, spirited girl who looked forward to trips to Betterton Beach and birthday picnics at Tolchester Park and searching the woods for the perfect Christmas tree with her father while reciting “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost. She grew up to be a beautiful, gracious, charismatic lady. After graduating from Galena High School in 1969, she began a career in advertising and modeling. She possessed a life-long love of art, history, Colonial and Victorian architecture, genealogy, and old Hollywood movies. Wherever fate took her, Terri made life-long friends. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, graduation or holiday. She believed that life should be celebrated. Terri was always there to brighten the lives of others. On February 6, 1977, she married Steven I. Kaplan. Their marriage was one of love, trust, respect and laughter. Terri treasured her two sons, Brett and Kevin. The role of mother brought her endless joy, as did the role of grandmother to her granddaughters Rose and Riley. We are blessed to have been part of her life. We have seen her absolute elation when surrounded by family. We have known the tranquility and peace she could bring in troubled times. We have enjoyed the beauty she brought to everyday life. We have witnessed her unmeasurable strength and courage to carry on. We are, indeed, blessed. Theresa is survived by her beloved husband, Steven I. Kaplan; her sons, Brett Ryan Kaplan (Heather) and Kevin Skylar Kaplan (Lauren); her granddaughters, Rose Skylar Kaplan and Riley Willow Kaplan; her two brothers, Robert Comegys (Loretta) and George Comegys (Peggy); her two sisters Penny Comegys Blalock (Frederick) and Cynthia Comegys Holland (Joseph); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. “She was beautiful for the way she thought. She was beautiful for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks, she was beautiful deep down to her soul. She was beautiful” – F. Scott Fitzgerald A memorial gathering will be 4PM to 6PM on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
