Turner, Thomas, 82, of Absecon, passed away October 1, 2018, at his home, with his loving wife, Virginia Turner (DelGesso), of 50 years, by his side. Thomas is survived by his 3 children, Thomas Turner of Hammonton, Steven ‘Kelly’ Turner and his favorite daughter-in-law, Lirone ‘Leigh’, of Margate and his daughter, Maria ‘Mia’ MacDonald and his son-in-law, Joshua, of Absecon; his granddaughters, Kayla Turner-Brown, Georgia and Isabella Turner and grandsons, Jackson Turner and Kieran MacDonald. Thomas also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his best friend and father, James Turner (1900-1990), his mother, Clara Turner (Sieverding) and 4 older siblings. Thomas served in the Marine Corps of America from 1954-1957 and was stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC. He had a love of horses and owned several during his childhood, including his one and only Rex. His other favorite activity was roller skating and he was an avid roller dance competitor. His love of roller skating led him to meet the most important love of his life, his wife, Virginia, who he met at the Ventnor Skating Rink in 1967. He worked as a sign painter at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and then Donahue Signs, until they closed. He then began working as a custodian at the Absecon Public Schools, where he worked until his retirement in 2009. He formed many cherished and lasting friendships during those years. Visitation will be 10AM to 12PM Friday, October 5, 2018 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Military honors will follow at 12PM. Burial will be private.
