Obituary For Wanda Yvette Santiago

In Loving Memory of Wanda Yvette Santiago

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wanda Yvette Santiago, 58, on February 5, 2025, after a brave five-year battle with cancer. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, friend and caregiver.

Born on November 11th, 1966, in New York City to a proud Puerto Rican family, she later moved with her then-husband, Eddie Santiago, to Guam, where they welcomed their first child, Sabrina Santiago. They went on to live in Washington State and then Virginia, where their second child, Jonathan Santiago, was born. Wanda eventually settled in Galloway/Absecon, New Jersey, where she built a beautiful life for herself and her two children. A natural caregiver, she ran a successful babysitting business, worked at Montgomery Ward and later thrived as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), dedicating her life to helping others.

She loved God with all her heart and found strength and peace in her faith. Her church congregation Kingdom Hall welcomed her with open arms and being part of that community was one of the most cherished aspects of her life.

She loved salsa and merengue music, often channeling the spirit of her father, Rafael Fuentes, and she had a soft spot for her Starbucks hot mochas. She adored her adopted stray cat Bruce (aka “Pussy”) and was immensely proud of purchasing her first home in 2019. Though she never remarried, she always found joy in the deep love and connection she shared with her children, family and friends and she faced every challenge with grace and strength.

She was predeceased by her father, Rafael Fuentes; her brother, Gilberto Santos De Jesus and her grandmother, Elisia Torres Guzman. She is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Iris Santiago; son, Jonathan Edward Santiago; mother, Norma Iris Fuentes; and her siblings, William Santos, Miriam Diaz, Raphael Fuentes Jr, Grace Fuentes Comerford, and Juan Fuentes.

Visitation and service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave, Absecon, NJ, with visitation at 11:00 AM and service at 12:00 PM. Online condolences may be placed at www.parselsfh.com. Wanda will be deeply missed but never ever forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace. ❤️

Wanda,, The thought of losing you was more painful than I could have expected. You fought so hard to stay here with us but the good lord needed you home. We all saw the battle and you were the warrior that never wanted to give up. You fought for children, me and everyone that loved you. One of my biggest honors in this life was being able to care of you from childhood to adulthood, especially when you needed me most. I thank you for allowing to join the battle with you and even with the battle scars at the very end, I would do it all again. My sisterly love for you was genuine and I would have done anything to have you here for a little while longer. You have gone too soon, but I'll never forget our times together. Rest in heavenly peace with papi and all the ones that loved you as much as I did. I will love ❤️ you forever and I will carry you in my heart with all my memories until my last breath. Your sister, Grace 💕

We Offer the Book of Memories™

Parsels Funeral Home offers what we consider to be the finest example of online memorials, the Book of Memories™. Created by an award-winning team of web developers and designers while being led by a funeral professional with over 25 years of experience, this online memorial is intended to provide your family with a permanent place to pay tribute to your loved one.

Far more than a traditional obituary—which is usually published only once and has no interactivity at all—the Book of Memories™ Memorial Website is a fully interactive archive of treasured photographs and stories remembered from their time spent with friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers.

You’ll be able to invite others to visit the online memorial, where they can upload images, share stories, write heart-felt messages of condolence, send a floral tribute to the funeral, or make a charitable donation in memory of your loved one. And the built-in social media integration means they can then “spread the word” about their addition to your loved one’s Book of Memories™ using Facebook and Twitter.

We offer the families we serve a Book of Memories™ memorial website with the intention that it gives you a measure of solace and comfort during the coming months. To arrange for a Book of Memories® memorial website for your loved one, contact us today.
