William Boo Mcclellan

William McClellan, of Absecon, known by family and friends as “Boo Boo” and “Billy”, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on July 21, 2012. Billy was born in Philadelphia and was a graduate of the St. Thomas More High School, Class of 1972.

Billy touched the lives of many through his work as Chaplain and Director of the Overcomers Program at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, where his hardworking and faith-driven nature helped those in need of spiritual revival and recovery. He attended the United Methodist Church at Absecon, where he led weekly bible studies and initiated a weekly transportation program for those at the Rescue Mission interested in attending Sunday morning services. In his youth, Billy was an avid baseball player, even playing while attending college.

He is predeceased by his father, William J. McClellan, Sr. He’s survived by his mother, Estella McClellan; sisters Jackie Young (Michael), Michelle Deluca (Robert) and Kelly Munsell (Robert); brothers Shawn McClellan (Jean) and Scott McClellan; five nieces, four nephews and one great-nephew. He is also survived by his loving companion Tammy Elkafas and her children; the Sudol family; and many friends and coworkers who loved him dearly.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be Friday July 27 at 6PM at The United Methodist Church at Absecon, 100 Pitney Road in Absecon. The family will receive friends from 5PM to 6PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Donations may be made in Billy’s honor to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, PO Box 5358, Atlantic City, NJ 08404.
