Obituary For Fred Bardenhagen

Fred Bardenhagen, 89, of Galloway NJ, passed away April 27, 2024. Born in Armstorf, district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1951 and resided between New York and New Jersey. He married Irmgard M. Bardenhagen in 1955, they resided in Midland Park, NJ before moving to Galloway, NJ in 1975. He became a distributor for Thumann’s Meats in 1973, running the business from his home before retiring in 1996. Fred was a veteran with the U.S. Army. He was a Master Mason and Treasurer with the Atlantic Lodge #221 for 42 years. He was a past Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey. He is also a Royal Arch Mason with Trinity Chapter No. 38 and a Knight Mason with the Southern NJ Council #11. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, vacationing in Florida, and spending time with his family.

Fred is predeceased by his father and mother, Klaus and Elise Bardenhagen; and his sister, Annelise Bardenhagen Spirig Sorsch. He is survived by his wife, Irmgard M. Bardenhagen; his children Monica Peterson and Robert Bardenhagen; his 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will take place Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 10:00AM at the Atlantic County Park Veteran’s Cemetery located at 109 NJ-50, Mays Landing, NJ 08330. A memorial service will follow at 11:30AM at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave, Absecon, NJ 08201. There will be a 2:00pm luncheon at the Atlantic Mason Lodge, 633 Bayview Dr, Absecon, NJ 08201.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Lodge of New Jersey. Donations should be mailed to 100 Barrack Street, Trenton, NJ 08608, the check should be made out to “Grand Lodge of NJ Ashlar Fund.” Memorial contributions can also be made to https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
