Obituary For Joan E. Hagelgans (Farley)
Hagelgans, Joan E. (nee Farley), of Absecon, passed away January 1, 2024. She was born on July 28, 1932 in Patchogue, Long Island where she spent her earliest years, and was then raised in Minersville, PA. She married her husband Jim in 1955 and moved to South Jersey ultimately settling in Absecon where she participated in fund raising activities for various charities while raising her three children. She worked at the Atlantic City Race Course for many years where she acquired an appreciation for the “ponies”. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved her several visits to Ireland and many other trips abroad with her husband in their retirement years. She loved to get dressed-up and stay in the Theatre District and attend Broadway shows. She was well-read and could hold her own against anyone in a game of Jeopardy. She was the most laid-back person you could ever meet.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Delphine (nee Thompson) Farley; and her husband, Jim. Surviving are her sons, James and Michael (Paula); daughter, Maureen Stone; former son-in-law, Andy; grandson, Samuel; sisters, Patricia (John) and Jacqueline; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her caregivers at Spring Home Assisted Living and from Grace Hospice.
Graveside service will be held in the mausoleum chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ at 11:30 am, Monday, January 8, 2024. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
